In the interest of avoiding any contribution to the roadkill tally, last night we decided to stop in a small town called Wudinna, and that’s where today’s run took place.
What could be more iconic than an aussie town with giant wheat silo bins?

I realised I was running out of town to run in after about 2kms.In order to lengthen my run I ran through the cemetery. You can learn a lot about a town by it’s cemetery and I did keep an eye out for any devil worshippers or at least a National Party supporter, but, neither were obvious.
I then ran along a dirt road which I was the driveway leading into a couple of farms. All in all it was probably about 4.5kms,but very pleasant and diverse scenery!
Driver Dick and I did wonder why all the continental breakfast was packed away by 7.50am.They kindly brought it back out to us and we put their apparent enthusiasm for tidying things up down to the fact there probably wasn’t much else to do. All the other guests high tailed it out of there by 7am and we thought perhaps they had forgotten we were still there.
It wasn’t until we hit the road again and tuned into the radio that we realised our watches were an hour behind. We knew we had picked up 45 minutes at Ceduna yesterday ,and had adjusted our watches, but somehow we missed the EXTRA, extra 45minutes
The trip over the Eyre Peninsula took us through Iron Knob.

This is were the Australian Steel Industry started.
It seems to me they have pretty much worn the knob out.
I would not consider anything near amain road to be ‘the outback’ ,but I do think you get sense of it from this scenery.

It actually reminds me of the Social Studies text books we used in year 5.They had pictures just like this. Flat land with dark green tufts of grasses/bushes, and a ‘native’ Aborigine, standing with his spear and a big cheesy white toothed smile, and some uniformed white fella striding towards him with hands stretched out.
Either to greet him and introduce himself as his saviour from savagery or steal his spear and sell it to a Japanese tourist.
Driver Dick didn’t have his sprit leveler with him and so took a whiz on the plains, just to check that it was in fact, quite flat.
4pm
2,600km’s ,3 days worth of driving and we have finally hit the next major Australian city, Adelaide!
Looks beautiful, as though carved into the foot of the mountain ranges.
But, can’t linger. We’re headed for the Victorian border! We are booked to be on the Ferry to Tasmania tomorrow night.
I STILL HAVE NO ANTI-SPEW DRUGS
And, how did that group in the Poseidon Adventure work out which way was the right way out?
Next destination: Bordertown (seriously, that’s its name) 20km’s from the Victorian border.
Song of the day: The Immigrant Song-Led Zepplin
