The Last Stretch

People will usually make 1 of 2 comments about crossing the Nullabor.
1. it's long
2. it's boring

I agree with 1, but it's far from boring!

The landscape changes. There are areas which retain a little more water than others and so there are a few more trees or greenery.

It really is a land of sweeping plains

I think we were the first humans he ever saw. He had this look of 'who the..where the.. when the..what the hell are you!"

This silly thing tood there for at least 45seconds while we crept up in the car until it finally thought.. 'OOO! better run'

I think it's beautiful. I want to go back and camp on the nullabor. In a swag, under the stars..

For about 10 minutes before retiring to the snake/bug free comfort of my caravan.

Speaking of caravans, just to the left of this picture is the campervan of an elderly couple complete with washing line tied to the rubbish bin with ginormous knickers pegged on it

At the head of the bight we were entertained by a pod of 6 whales who first took a peek to see if anyone was looking

and then gave us the flipper

as though they were waving goodbye.

What a treat.

Next stop-Kalgoolie,then home

What a great blog!.... Not only did I learn a lot about the great country of Australia, but I was thoroughly entertained along the way.
I can't even begin to count the number of smirks, chuckles, guffaws and lols I experienced.

Just the pictures alone were fantastic, but to also have commentary provided by someone as funny, clever and insightful as yourself was priceless.

Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us...and welcome home! :)...DanQ
